Sometimes I buy into the idea that traveling the world would make my life better. That I need visit all of these exotic places to be truly happy and fulfilled and find magic. That I need to hit the road to explore new places to ultimately find lasting contentment.
↟
I live in a beautiful place and have a loving husband but I also don’t go outside half as much as I’d like to. I work more than maybe I should + even need to. Honestly it brings me a lot of anxiety, always wanting more. More travel, more experiences. Even more stuff- I hate to admit it but I want things I don’t need. Because we’re taught to want more, and that more = happiness.
↟
We’re taught to seek greener grass at any cost, and often don’t notice the perfectly nice grass we’re bulldozing over.
↟
Someone always profits from our discontent, and it’s not us. It’s billion dollar industries that rely on us to want, endlessly.
↟
We can be discontent anywhere on earth. With any level of fame or prestige or wealth. But we can also be happy right here. The grass is greener where you water it. We don’t need to travel to find the things travel is supposed to bring us. We don’t need to buy stuff that promises to bring happiness through consumption. It’s ok to want, to strive, to live our *best life.* But don’t let those desires get in the way of everything right here.
↟
So I’m going to admire my wanderlust. Give a nod to my drive to always do more. Then quietly curl up with my paints and create my own magic, right here in my little town. I’m going to plan trips, but not let desires overpower the wonderful world I’ve been created right here.
↟
Let’s water the grass beneath our own two feet. Let’s strive to explore, but also explore our own hearts. Because life it too short to always be thinking about the things we don’t really need. Don’t miss it on this moment by thinking about the next.

New hat is in my bio, I hope you love it as much as I do. I painted it after a day ski touring near my home. You see, sometimes the most beautiful things are right under our noses.
