From Northern Peru, I took a 13 hour bus ride straight to Lima. Most of the coast line touching the Pacific Ocean is a harsh, dry desert and this was the view for those 13 hours. Surprisingly enough, the trip thankfully went by fast and I arrived in Lima around 8 pm.
